I love the feel of this — um, what to call it? Opus? For some reason I feel like calling it a song would be insulting.
An entire world springs into my mind on hearing the first few notes, an instantaneous creation of an entire universe from a featureless void. The Big Bang. Art. An entire universe created, at the exact moment of its death.
Images of planets exploding, stars dying, the final retreat of light from the unstoppable, endless night.
Images from Blade Runner flicker to life in some unknown theater in my mind. Rutger Hauer’s voice;
“I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I’ve watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain. Time to die.”
The cover art is just a little unsettling too.
Give it a listen for a moment.
